Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, said Monday that it plans to show the new version, called Ubuntu Netbook Remix, at the Computex trade show in Taiwan this week.
Smaller devices based on Intel processor, the Atom is all the rage with PC makers last. Manufacturers such as Acer and other planning devices.
The release of Ubuntu, expected later this year, based on the model of Ubuntu Desktop Edition and rewritten for the Atom-based mobile devices, Canonical said.
The company said it cooperates with the "series" of the original equipment, but did not identify those companies.
